Description

-WARNING-This comment is pretty long due to his bio being posted below-

A quick pic of my adopted unicorn from :icondruid-ulises: [link]

The pic itself was only meant to be a quick sketch, and I actully completed it REALLY quickly oO I have no idea how it came out looking this good after spending such little time on it... compared to some pieces I've done. I think i might just have to try this sketching technique more often! I'm actually pretty proud of this pic :3

I used about 5 different refs for this image, mostly from [link] I'd urge anyone to visit his gallery, his equine photography is really inspiring!

I'm working on a ref sheet for him to show his markings in full, so watch out for that coming soon ^^

If it interests you in the slightest, I listened to The Mission by 30 Seconds To Mars whilst drawing this :3

EDIT: God, I'm an idiot |D I must have been tired or it must have been late when i posted this pic, but I totally forgot to give :iconcricketwings: credit for her awesome tutorial on manes. I took alot of inspiration from that tutorial. It's really helpful, you should seriously take a look at it :meow:

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Name: Phesiranon Firestrike

Gender: Male

Age: Around 50 years (A young adult for his species)

Personality: Grumpy would definitely be one word to describe him. He does have a heart under all of that grump and it doesn't always take much for it to show... though he may not always show it in the most straight forward sort of way. He's never shy to speak his mind, however, he is if the subject is personal, he can be somewhat guarded. He's noble, and can sometimes be a little haughty. He’s quite flamboyant and charismatic and massively self confident. A born leader if ever there was one. Usually makes judgments about another in the first minute of meeting them, and being stubborn, it can take quite some effort to change his mind.

Basic History: He was born in to nobility, his mother being a powerful sorceress, and his father being the third son of the ruler of his land (not got a name for where he lives/lived yet). His father was the one with all the wealth and power, where as his mother was of no royalty, simply a rather ravishing beauty who had an incredible grasp on magics. The prince was simply blown away by her beauty and so decided he had to have her. She came willingly, being attracted to both wealth and influence. It took little time before the pair became inseparable, falling deeply in love with one another. The king was never a fan of marrying outside royal bloodlines and showed his dislike for the prince's choice in a bride, however, he allowed them to marry still, seeing that the prince's mind was firmly made up.
Two years down the line leads them to be many miles from home, quite happily and comfortably situated near an area just within the kingdom (Placed by the king to show his embarrassment over his sons choices). Being away from the king and any outside influences, the two become a little corrupt. They manage to keep the values of the kingdom and were always careful with what they did, but if they wanted something, they'd find some way to get it through fair means or foul.
The following year, the sorceress fell pregnant, and to the princes delight, she gave birth to a strong son. The pair couldn't be happier for their achievement with Phesiranon and he became their most prized and loved possession. He was given anything he wanted, and tutored to the highest levels possible. Disappointingly, as Phesiranon grew they both noticed he had none of his mothers natural ability with magic, something that they had both hoped for. Though even this was not a problem for a wealthy and influential character such as his father. Phesiranon's mother, using her connections in the magical world, found a deeply corrupt sorcerer, one who had been banished from the kingdom for his uses of magic. Life outside the kingdom was always hard for such a creature, and so with a bribe of a new identity, wealth and safety within the kingdom, they persuaded the sorcerer to perform a ritual to bond Phesiranon to a creature of high power, thus passing the creatures powers to him.

***(See below for details of the ritual.)

For Phesiranon (In his late teens at this point), it was painful, and it took over a week for the bonding to be complete. The creature chosen was the (as usual) rare and expensive Fire Bird. After much pain and much effort, the ritual was a complete success, and one his family secretly marveled about. Phesiranon, with his strong will, only just managed to overpower that of his subject, even with magical intervention, and was given control over most of its powers, though sometimes, the bonded would lash out when not properly kept in check, as was common with forced bonding.
With time, Phesiranon's control over his bonded became greater and he was soon manipulating the creature’s magic to his own will.
A number of years passed and all seemed quiet, the prince and sorceress lived their lavish lifestyle, training their son to be just the same.
When Phesiranon reached the age of 27, The kings guard found the corrupt soul and through torture, managed to find out all about the rituals he had performed and who he'd performed them for. Immediately, they were sent out to retrieve those who broke the law... even if it was the kings son.
When the guard came, Phesiranon was out training. Hearing his mothers screams he went immediately to find out what was happening. Connecting minds with her son, The sorceress warned him not to help, telling him everything about the ritual and what his fate would be if he did not run. It took just a moments hesitation before Phesiranon fled, leaving his past and the kingdom behind him.
For anyone with less magic, the outer world was a harsh, lawless place to live. Even for Phesiranon, the first few years were tough. This time proved to be a blessing in disguise. Phesiranon formed a strong connection with his bonded, actually getting to know her rather than just taking what he wanted from her.As a mark of respect to her, he took her name, Firestrike, and used it as his surname. Combined, his magic ability became stronger and thus, life became easier for him. Though they don't always see eye to eye, he has managed to accept his bonded as an individual, and thus earned her respect. She often keeps him in check as much as he does her.
This is where we find Phesiranon today, A guarded traveler who hasn't forgotten his pampered past, though knows he'll never get it back.

***((Such a ritual wasn't illegal in itself. It involved giving both individuals taking part in the ritual a potentially fatal wound, and then, using magic, connecting the souls together, in-between both bodies. Each soul longs for its original body and so what happens is one soul takes dominance over the other, killing the body of the other and returning to its own. The soul who's body dies lives on within the body of whom ever is strongest, but as the 'bonded' and at the mercy and cotrol of the host.
When the ritual was first performed, it was important that both souls were willing to undergo the procedure, otherwise, it would be a complete failure. It was incredibly risky, as over 80% of ritual outcomes, the preferred host wasn't as strong as the chosen magical creature.
As time went on, some sorcerers found they were able to manipulate souls in some ways, making it so the chosen host stood a much higher chance of being the dominant soul.
A breakthrough came when a test was done on two unwilling souls. The ritual was performed, and using magic, the creature was forced against its will to submit to the chosen host.
((These magical subjects were picked out from other creatures for their unnaturally high ability to perform well in some magic field, be it healing, psychic abilities, fire control... whatever. They were never given a choice, were bonded against the creatures will. The creatures were on the same lines as a dog or a cat, with a lower mental capacity, less self aware. The procedure itself is long, quite painful for both parties involved, and can be complicated.))
This act was seen as highly immoral and the king decreed the ritual never to be performed again with the penalty of death to anyone involved.))

Powers/Abilities/Misc: Naturally, none.

With his bonded, everything she can do, so can he. I've yet to figure this out. It may be fire... but I might change my mind, since red characters seem to equal fire to everyone... but still, if it fits... Anyways, I'm rambling now xD I'll give serious thought to it ^^ For now, he can manipulate her powers, which, whatever it might be, will have a yellowy orangy reddish aura to it ^^
